The Plan is being prepared by a Regional Planning Consortium comprising representatives of the six counties (Fulton, Herkimer, Montgomery, Oneida, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties) and with input from key stakeholders and the public. Otsego County received the $1 million award to develop a Planning Consortium and to lead the Sustainability Plan and is serving as the contracting entity with NYSERDA. Technical assistance is being provided by Ecology and Environment, Inc.
The Planning Consortium is charged with developing program support, sharing information and reviewing project progress. A Sustainability Planning Team of consultants was developed to assist with data collection, to identify and to reach out to stakeholders, and review project deliverables. The Planning Team consists of Otsego County and Ecology and Environment, Inc., who has contracted with the Genesis Group, Mohawk Valley Economic Development District (MVEDD), and the Otsego County Conservation Association (OCCA) to provide local support.
Additionally, topic-specific working groups have been formed to bring stakeholder knowledge into a single focal area of the regional planning effort. These working groups include specialists in Economic Development, Transportation, Materials Management, Energy, Land Use and Livable Communities, Water Management, Agriculture and Forestry, Governance, and Climate Change Adaptation.
